STAFF


Our
BSIS-certified training facility has qualified and BSIS certified instructors with experience in real world situations. Our firearms instructors have encountered many dangerous situations and we teach from EXPERIENCE. We come from a diversity of law enforcement backgrounds. We are always experimenting with new technology and proving or disproving myths. When others flee from a crisis, we run TOWARDS it.

FIREARMS PERMIT

This course will prepare you for the California Firearms Permit through BSIS. This is a 14-hour course (8 hours classroom, 6 hours range) in the carrying and use of firearms given by a Bureau- certified firearms training instructor. Day 1 is classroom. No weapons allowed. Day 2 will be held on a seperate date following classroom. During your eight hours of classroom training, you will learn moral and legal aspects of firearms use, firearms nomenclature, weapons handling and shooting fundamentals, and emergency procedures. The six hours of range training will give you practice in safely handling and firing your weapon. You must re-qualify on the range twice a year before renewing your permit. There are several course requirements:

   (a) You must pass the written and range exams given at the end of the course.

(b) Be a United States citizen or have permanent legal alien status; and

(c) Be at least 18 years of age or older.


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The student must provide:

1. Weapon. Do bring the weapon on the day of the class. Only bring your weapon on the range. You should bring your own weapon since there is only  
    one gun available.  You may rent the instructor's gun (9mm) for an additional fee of  $10.00. Please bring money order or exact change.
2. Ammunition (If you are renting the instructor's firearm, you must purchase factory ammunition. Absolutely no reloads.
3. Ear Protection.
4. Eye Protection
5. Proof of citizenship (birth certificate or certificate of naturalization)
6. Paper
7. Pen
8. Proper Holster (recommended)

****Students may be removed from the course due to reckless behavior without a refund. This is for your safety and for the safety of those around you! Paying for the course does not mean the student will qualify on the test or range.  Firearms are dangerous weapons and should only be handled by qualified persons****


PRICING     $150.00 $100.00 for a Limited Time only!

A deposit of $40.00 will be required to ensure that all students who sign up will make it to the course. The course fee alone is $110.00 per student. For the student who pays the complete fee all at once, the price is only $100.00. The range fees vary depending on the range location but it is usually $15 to $25. If we go to the desert, it's free! Once the student qualifies, he/she must pay the state an $80 application fee and submit a Live Scan form signed by the Live Scan site operator. A $38 Firearm Eligibility application, $32 Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint processing fee and $19 Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) fingerprint processing fee must be paid at the Live Scan site. The processing fee of the live scan site varies by location. The usual processing fee is about $25.00

We have one 9mm handgun available for rent for $10.00. The total price would be $110.00. We highly encourage you to bring your own firearm since it will make range go a lot smoother since others may be renting the same firearm. Deposit Required to Reserve a Seat


Seating is very limited. To reserve a seat, you must make a non-refundable deposit of $40 at least seven business days prior to the start of class. Please note $70.00 in cash or money order is due the first day prior to class starting. We do not accept checks: Money order or Cash Only. Students who do not attend the course on the scheduled date will forfeit their deposit.  If you pay by full no deposit is required and you will receive $10.00 off.  Please render payment by clicking the PayPal tab located below.

FIREARMS PERMIT (REQUALIFICATION)

The firearm permit holder must re-qualify a total of 4 times within the life of the permit: two re-qualifications during the first year and two in the second year. There must be at least a 4 month gap in between each re-qualification and there should be no more than a 6 month gap. You must provide your own weapon and ammunition. You will need to bring a total of 100 rounds in the caliber you intend on re-qualifying with. Application for renewal should be submitted to the Bureau within 60 days before the expiration date. The current fee for renewing a firearm permit is $98. You may not renew your permit once you have allowed it to expire. You must instead apply for a new permit.

We do not accept checks.

RANGE INFORMATION & DIRECTIONS

We will be shooting from the location pictured below. The area is located approximately 500 feet southwest of the S/B  111 Fwy.  We park approximately 200 feet from the actual shooting location and walk up the hill. Be careful the dirt roadway is bumpy and contains many rocks. The actual address is 4175 Angel Canyon Trail, Palm Springs, CA 92262, however there are no street signs or markers.  GPS coordinates are 33.87195, -116.588955.

The shooting area is southwest of here.
 



Below is another view from the top of the shooting area.  You can see a small dirt
road leading to the shooting area (up to down). We will park near the palm tree (near
the bottom of picture) and walk up to this point. It's about a five minute hike.
