Pricing

First and foremost, many prospective clients fail to understand private investigations involving infidelity can be pricey. When the private investigator begins your investigation, 100% of his/her time is dedicated to the assignment and he/she may not work on any outside investigations. Many private investigation agencies require a minimum number of hours.      

Prices vary through season depending on the workload of the office. Traditionally, most private investigation agencies require a retainer.  A retainer is basically a deposit that guarantees payment to the private investigator based on the number of hours and expenses that will probably be needed for the investigation.

As soon as the private investigator leaves the office to the “work site”, the client begins to incur charges against the retainer, unless a local rate plan is agreed upon. If you scroll through our website and find a page that mentions local rates, that means in most cases, that you are not billed based on an office located outside the area (more expensive since driving time is extended).

The client is also billed for the private investigator’s return trip. In some cases, the investigator may need to enter a restaurant to follow the subject.  If order to avoid being “noticeable,” the investigator may need to order food or drinks at the client’s expense. Sometimes the subject may enter a night club, bar, or amusement park.  In these cases, the client is responsible for “cover charges.”

Our current mileage rate is .55 cents a mile. This covers vehicle insurance, oil, gas, and wear and tear to the investigator’s personal vehicle. Unless otherwise agreed upon, mileage covers the round trip to and from the office and the following of the vehicle (if any).

Many private investigators bill for report writing, photograph, and evidence processing (if applicable).  The billing times usually vary, but you may ask your private investigator for an estimate.
